Rapier / Fire Staff Beginner PvP Build

This is a fast, high damage, light armor beginner PvP build that’s easy to get your hands on! This build is excellent for solo and small group open world PvP. It has lots of mobility focused skills and buffs allowing you to use your speed to control outnumbered fights. The Rapier is your high damage, close-quarter weapon, perfect for getting behind and backstabbing opponents. The Fire Staff is set up to deal a ton of damage at medium range, while applying as many burns as possible.

You can easily purchase all the gear for this build from your Faction Vendor in each town. You can also modify the attributes of your gear easily with items from the same vendor, and you can even purchase powerful potions there!

Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!

Since both our weapons scale from Intelligence, aiming to get 100 is ideal. After that, you can choose to invest in some Constitution or continue to stack damage in Intelligence.

Attribute Bonuses Granted:

  • Intelligence 50: +10% damage to light and heavy magic attacks. +10% harvest speed.

  • Intelligence 100: +10% critical hit chance. 5% chance for 1 Azoth when harvesting.

Equipment

With this gear loadout you should be in the Light Armor class which gives you access to a dodge roll. The roll is a very important part of your mobility and survivability. There is also no shield used in this build, as it does not provide us enough meaningful stats to justify its heavy weight. Our gear attributes are focused on stacking more Intelligence, with a secondary focus on Constitution.

Our armor has a mix of different gems slotted, but mostly you want to stack reduction to physical and magical damage, if you have it. Otherwise, just enchant your gear with the best gems available. The Rapier is enchanted with an Ignited Gem. Due to us stacking Intelligence, this additional fire damage greatly increases our Rapiers overall damage. The Fire Staff is enchanted with an Electrified gem, although I did not notice much of a damage difference on the staff after adding a gem.

The gear and the items used to modify it can be purchased from your Faction Vendor!

As always, you want to try to use the best food and potions that you have available! You can buy some more powerful healing potions from the Faction Vendor.

Active Skills

Rapier

Tondo - 4/4 Upgrades

Tondo is a rather useful AOE attack/bleed for this build. It stacks on itself allowing you to cause a lot of damage as the fight wears on. This constant pressure goes really well with our fire staff burns. This is your flex spot for the build so feel free to use your ability of choice here instead!

Evade - 5/5 Upgrades

Evade is arguably the Rapiers best skill. It not only allows you to have a brief moment of invulnerability, but makes you more mobile, can be used to attack, and can cancel any ability or action! This is a very unique effect and gives the Rapier a high skill ceiling for PvP combat.

Fleche - 4/4 Upgrades

This is not only an amazing gap closer for attacking and getting away, but it is also a quick way for us to get behind an opponent and hit them with a strong backstab. You can even cancel the backstab with evade followed by a light attack for two quick consecutive hits!

Fire Staff

Fireball - 1/3 Upgrades

This skill hits hard, is rather quick to cast, and has a large AOE blast radius. The AOE field it makes is not the most useful in a mobile fight, and is why I did not invest past the first point in Fireball.

incinerate 1.png

Incinerate - 1/4 Upgrades

A great AOE blast that will apply burning to everything hit. It can work great for attacking and pushing people off you. This skill is your most flexible skill so feel free to use something else here if you want!

Burn Out - 3/3 Upgrades

Burn Out is amazing. It causes you to quickly rush forward, and quite a distance too, while dealing damage to anyone you hit and leaving a strong burn on them. This skill is great for applying offensive pressure and also for escaping to safety. Our second gap closer / mobility skill for the build!
