Rapier / Musket Trap Build PTR
Season 3 PTR
60% cooldown reduction is no joke. This build can spam skills non stop, and has completely changed my playstyle. The traps and bombs work as excellent tools to zone opponents out while dealing massive amounts of damage with lifesteal. Thanks to musket also gaining bullet penetration you can actually deal AOE damage against the stack!
This is just a test build from the public test realm, so things might change before the new expansion goes live!
Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!
This build actually does really well with higher constitution if you don’t want to play glass cannon thanks to it having so much utility and burst on such a short cooldown. I do highly recommend taking the 25 FOC passive for that 5% less cooldown, stacking more reduction makes this builds playstyle better and better!

Equipment
The gear I have here is basically perfect since I got to make exactly what I wanted on the test server!
Keenly jagged is my preferred perk for the artifact musket, but a bum perk is ok here if you get a bad roll. Life steeling is also a good option for both weapons too!
Since healing power feels on the low side in the new patch, I would recommend going for shirking heals instead of elemental aversion if you can. The nimble coat artifact is a must have for this spec! You 100% should run 4/4 refreshing on this build!
I didn’t really like any of the artifact jewelry for this build, and was not able to crat these items in BIS on the PTR. That earing is perfect since healing is on the low side. Leeching would be great for the ring while hearty is a must have with a 3rd perk of your choice. Ideally the amulet would have the 10% potion healing perk instead of refreshing!
As always use the best food you can find, honing stones, and health / mana / regeneration / OP new super potions introduced in the expansion!
Active Skills
Rapier
Riposte - 4/4 Upgrades
Riposte functions so well with a cooldown focused build, not only because you can use it a lot more, but landing a riposte will reduce the cooldowns of you other rapier skills too!
With 5/5 Freedom you can catch a lot of people when they try to stun chain you.
Evade - 5/5 Upgrades
A 7.8 second evade reminds me of launch. If your landing light attacks you can almost spam this skill on this build. Evade has tons of uses in any situation and it’s a treat to use on a build like this!
Fleche - 4/4 Upgrades
With refreshing fleche and riposte you can land this attack almost back to back in PvP. Having a gap closer ready so often is massive for any PvP build, and feels so good offensively on this build.
Musket
Sticky Bomb - 3/3 Upgrades
With a 4.8 second cooldown you can expect to throw another bomb one second after your last bombs explosion. I recommend spamming this as often as you can.
The bombs hit like a truck while healing you, and actually give this build some deadly consistent AOE pressure. You can use this alongside Traps to zone out melee attackers quite well!
Power Shot - 2/4 Upgrades
Simply put, power shot hits very hard and has a short cooldown. It is your go too long range burst option, and can deal massive damage to anyone stuck in a Trap!
Traps - 4/4 Upgrades
An 8 second cooldown on traps is madness. Each trap gives a 33% haste for 5 seconds, so at most you will have a 3 second cooldown on a massive speed buff.
Since you can basically spam them, the traps become an excellent zoning tool that is very punishing for someone to get caught in!
