Inferno / Greatsword PvP Build

Season 6

With Inferno giving a 15% damage bonus to both weapons, this build is now one of the hardest hitting Greatsword builds in the game. No Serenity required. On top of being able to kill light players in a second, this build has excellent mobility and possibly the most broken healing power I have ever experienced in this game. Hope ya like it!

*Inferno is currently bugged and not scaling the burn damage from STR properly, despite this the build is still so dam strong..

Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!

100 CON is a must have for that 10% health boost, otherwise we are investing into 50 FOC for a big boost to healing power and some cooldown reduction. I have been having excellent results with this!

350+ STR is a must for both weapons damage.

100+ DEX gives the Greatsword fantastic burst damage, on top of a good damage boost to the staff since diminishing returns are so bad if we go past 400 STR.

If you can spare the points, 25 or 50 INT will help out your burn damage a lot!

A quick note on weapon masteries, since the burn damage is currently bugged you can always use the backdraft passive to try to get more damage out of your staff!

Equipment

Inferno hits like a truck with Empowering Fireball, my perk of choice.

The ideal Greatsword has Energizing Counter, Trenchant Crits, and either Penetration Backstab / Attunement / Keenly Jagged.

The ideal armor perks would be Refreshing / Freedom / Shirking Heals. Shirking energy is a must have on the legs, and ele aversion is a great perk too!

Relentless Freedom would be a good weapon perk to have, as well as empowering incinerate. Having at least one Hasted Vigor perk would be awesome too!

The jewelry is perfect for non artifact items, however the elemental band would be my artifact of choice here! I found since we have such a huge focus on healing that endless thirst was not worth using.. having that healthy toast perk goes a long way (Thirst does not get it)!

As always use the best food you can find, honing stones, and health / mana / regeneration potions. Some mana recharge food and desert sunrise’s are great too!

Active Skills

Greatsword

Calamity Counter - 2/3 Upgrades

Since I have that awesome weapon perk that gives 50 stamina on this skills use, I choose Calamity Counter. Otherwise I would run Steadfast Strike here.

The stamina return is super OP, and can be used at any time.

The counter itself is great for quickly reflecting some damage and putting a knockback and bleeds on your opponents.

This skills also transitions well into the block on defiant stances heavy attacks after using it!

Crosscut - 3/3 Upgrades

This skill does a TON of damage, has GRIT, but it is a bit slow on the final hit. I really like canceling this skill after a heavy attack with a roll,

Heavy > Crosscut > Roll Cancel after the 2nd slash

This combo hits very hard and is deceptively fast and smooth to use!

Relentless Rush - 2/4 Upgrades

A decent gap closer that can do a ton of damage when both hits land, great for attacking or defending. Can also cleanse roots with the Relentless Freedom weapon perk!

Fire Staff

Fireball - 2/3 Upgrades

A strong AOE blast that does more damage to opponents above 50% health. A fantastic opening skill or finishing move since its so easy to land!

Incinerate - 1/4 Upgrades

Ok, this is a seriously good skill for PvP. The AOE is big, has GRIT, and lasts for a deceptive amount of time.

The stagger is VERY easy to land on any opponent trying to get to you, giving fire staff amazing utility for dealing with melee threats.

The damage isn’t half bad either, especially if you have the empowering incinerate perk!!

Only the first point is worth putting in here, unless you want that condition purge!

Burnout - 3/3 Upgrades

The second gap closer of the build and a great tool for AOE attacking or escaping. I always try to turn around my opponents by going through them with burnout.

Burnout has a longer wind up time so make sure to break a bit of distance before channeling it!
